I am sure you read tons of articles out there, telling you that you can start your YouTube Channel with your phone.
I agree you can do it! You could record your video from your phone and even edit them with some apps.
But if you are considering making a business out of your YouTube Channel. You should think of getting the right equipment to get started.
So, without further due, let’s get into it:
Here are the 6 equipment you need to start a YouTube Channel in 2020.
1 – CAMERA
Sounds pretty obvious right?
You need a camera to start recording your videos.
As I said, you can use your phone but make sure the video quality is good enough.
Yet, if you are looking for a good camera that as a low price to start your YouTube Channel. You should look at The Lumix Panasonic FZ80
I started my YouTube Channel with this camera, and it did the job for a good and long year.
Last year, I was Vlogging with it in Walt Disney World using the 4K video mode and loved it.
Here is an example:
After a year of vlogging. I decided to bring my YouTube channel to another direction. I started sitting down videos, where I talk about social media and content creation.
Therefore, I needed a more advanced camera with a flip screen.
So, I upgraded for the Canon EOS m50
This camera is THE BEST and worth every single dollar you are going to spend on it.
Also, believe it or not, but this camera is still very affordable for the amazing job it does.
The big pro about this camera is that you can add an external microphone to it. And let me tell you guys, that is changing the game of video recording.
Here is an example of filming with the Canon EOS M50
You must know that the choice of your camera is important. But it does not matter how good your camera is if the lightning SUCK!
To film a very good quality video you need to get some LIGHTS!
I found some very affordable umbrella lights on amazon and, I cannot film without them.
My office is pretty light up since I have a big open window, but when I add those lights, my videos and photos look amazing.

3 – TRIPODS
You got 2 out of the 6 equipment you need to start a YouTube Channel in 2020.
Now we need to talk about tripods.
You could find a way to put your camera somewhere and, never move it to shoot your videos.
However, owning a tripod that you can move around with you is way easier.
There are two kinds of tripods I recommend starting with.
The 60-Inch tripod from Amazon which is super affordable:
And a handle tripod for vlogging.
4 – SOFTWARE
How do you expect to edit your videos without a Software?
Good news for my fellow apple addicts.
The Software iMovie is FREE and you can have access to it on your Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
But the easiest way to edit a video with a lot of footage is on a computer.
So, iMovie is the perfect software for beginners. I will always recommend this, over anything else.
Yet, if you want to start with a more professional and advanced tool.
I would suggest you are looking at Final Cut Pro X.
This is an investment, since the software itself is about $300 but, right now, Apple is offering a 90 days free trial.
5- MEMORY CARDS
So, you are planning on starting your YouTube channel, which means, you are about to record tons of videos.
Thus, you will need a lot of STORAGE.
Don’t go small with your memory cards. Buy as many as you want. They are cheap!
You can get a 64GB for $11
6- EXTERNAL MICROPHONE
This is optional! But if you have random noises around you, or the area you are filming as some echo.
Then, the Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone will do the job. This is the cheapest external Microphone I found, that does an amazing job!
That is it, guys! You do not need more than that, to start a YouTube Channel in 2020.
So, Let’s do a quick recap:
